we made it

Yesterday we spent the whole day baking. I'd say it must be our 8-9th year doing it with the Martinson's except for 2 years ago when Katie had a baby on the 14th.

So in between all of this Lois and I took our kiddies to a Craft day for our home school group- REACH. The girls had fun making little crafts from 50 cents to $1.00 to give away as presents. My favorite was a little sheep they made outa cream yarn wrapped around a black body with clothespins as legs.

Then after all the crumbs and chocolate were cleaned up and everyone packed up, we headed to our monthly kids club for the evening! Woah- the kids really had a fun day and we made it home safely... after our first little snow fall here, about an 1 inch.

I didn't start the day off very well- first my car battery was dead when we went to leave in the morning and then this! My lovely Cherry Tassies, they looked so pretty on the picture! My sweet MIL came to my rescue and helped me finish them- we just couldn't get them outa the little muffin tin! Ugg! I learned from her that when you're making any specialty dough it's best NOT to double the recipe. Thanks Kathy!

Here are a few of the Cherry Tassies, Christmas Pizza and Kathy's Sally Ann's in the back ground- which turned out very well! (you use a Spam Container to cut them out- a rectangle shape)

Girls Cut outs

The cousins each made a platter of cut-out cookies to take home to their Daddy's. Brings back LOTS of memories as I made these as a kid each Christmas- with my mom doing all the work of rolling and cutting. So now I guess I'm the mom. Fun to watch their frosting skills get a little better each season. Winking

I was disappointed in the Sally Ann Cookies...not what I remembered or expected. Did Jared like them? And MariJean.....it is so old that the SPAM (as in meat) cans are rounded on top now and not sharp like they use to be. Harder to cut the cookies out with them. Do you remember how we use to open them with the little 'key' soldered on the side? That's old!
